Link ECU Products Australia: The Professional's Choice for Standalone Engine Management
Share
When a performance car outgrows its factory ECU - or when you need complete control over every parameter of a custom build - a standalone engine management system is the answer. Link Engine Management has been at the forefront of this space since 1991, and their G4X and G5 product lines are trusted by tuners, engine builders, and performance enthusiasts in over 70 countries. BYE Performance is a Link ECU dealer in Perth, and we use Link products in our most demanding builds.
About Link Engine Management
Founded in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1991 by three passionate engineers, Link started with a single goal: to create the best standalone engine control unit available. Their first ECU, the EMX, was assembled by hand. Today, Link employs a global team and exports products to over 70 countries through a network of over 1,500 dealers. Every ECU in the current G4X and G5 ranges is manufactured to motorsport standards and backed by one of the most comprehensive tuning software ecosystems in the industry.
Plug-In vs. Wire-In ECUs: Which Is Right for Your Build?
Link offers two primary ECU formats:
Plug-In (Plug-and-Play) ECUs - Direct replacements for the factory ECU in a specific vehicle. These units plug directly into the OEM wiring harness, retain existing sensors and mounting points, and require no additional wiring. They're the most accessible entry point into standalone engine management. Popular plug-in applications include the Subaru WRX/STI, Mitsubishi Evo, Nissan GT-R, Toyota Supra (MK4), Mazda RX-7, and many others.
Wire-In ECUs - Universal ECUs that connect via a custom-built engine harness. More work to install, but they offer the maximum level of control and flexibility. Suitable for custom engine builds, LS swaps, engine conversions, and any application where a plug-in unit isn't available. The G4X range includes the AtomX (entry-level), MonsoonX, StormX, XtremeX, and FuryX (with onboard wideband lambda).
Key Features of Link G4X ECUs
The G4X platform represents Link's proven, reliable, high-performance ECU architecture:
Boost control - Full closed-loop boost control with gear-based boost tables, anti-lag, and flat-shift
Launch control - Speed or RPM-based launch control for drag racing and circuit applications
Flex fuel - Native ethanol content sensor support for E85 blends
Data logging - High-speed internal data logging for tuner analysis
32-bit processor - Real-time calculations with sub-degree ignition timing accuracy
CAN bus integration - Seamless integration with dashboards, traction control, and other CAN devices
Dual wideband - Supports dual oxygen sensor inputs for sequential or split-bank tuning
The G5 Platform: Link's Latest Generation
Link has expanded their range with the G5 platform, including the G5 Voodoo Pro and G5 Voodoo Neo. The G5 range brings enhanced processing power, expanded I/O, and improved integration capabilities, targeting the most demanding motorsport and extreme performance applications. The G5 Voodoo Neo makes G5 technology accessible across a wider range of 4, 6, and 8 cylinder configurations.
Link ECU Accessories
Beyond ECUs, Link offers a full range of supporting accessories: CAN Lambda wideband controllers, knock detection modules (Knockblock), MAP sensors, temperature sensors, ethanol content sensors, looms and adapter harnesses, and boost control solenoids.
